Hublot MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-Axis 49mm watch, Reference 909.NX.1120.RX. This exceptional timepiece features a titanium case with a brushed and polished finish, showcasing Hublot's craftsmanship in blending durability with luxury. The case is complemented by black composite resin inserts on the sides, enhancing its bold design.

The watch boasts a striking skeleton dial with applied polished hour markers and bold, luminescent hands. The dual-axis tourbillon is prominently displayed at the 6 o'clock position, showcasing the intricate engineering behind this masterpiece. A power reserve indicator is located at the 9 o'clock position, ensuring the wearer is always aware of the remaining energy in the movement.

The bezel is fixed, crafted from titanium, and secured with 6 signature Hublot "H" screws, adding a distinctive touch to the overall design. The crown is screw-down, made from titanium, and features a black rubber insert for enhanced grip.

The watch is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, offering a clear view of the dial and protecting it from scratches. The case back is also sapphire crystal, allowing a view of the impressive movement within.

Powered by the Hublot Caliber HUB9009.H1.RA manual-winding movement, this watch contains 35 jewels and boasts an impressive 5-day power reserve. The dual parallel-mounted barrels ensure consistent energy delivery to the movement, enhancing its precision.

This model comes on a black structured lined rubber strap with a titanium deployant buckle clasp. The strap is easily interchangeable via Hublot's quick-release system, offering versatility and ease of use.

We can say that the common feature of the models in the MP Collection is their “engineering marvel” sort of details. However, it is a bit hard to say the same for their visual designs.

Standing quite large with a 49mm case diameter, the MP-09’s case looks like stretched out standard Big Bang. Of course, this design issue has a purpose; Hublot’s first Bi-Axis Tourbillon escapement is located in this extended section at 6 o’clock. Watching the movement tick through section covered with sapphire crystals in three sides is simply fascinating.

The winding crown is black rubber coated and located at 3 o’clock position of the case. The pusher at 9 o’clock position sets the date feature in a pretty unusual way. The pusher can be moved up and down which changes the date function a day forward or backwards per each push. The pusher, which attracts attention with the DATE engraving, matches nicely with the rest of the watch’s overall industrial design. On the user-facing side of the button, the words D + 1 and D-1 tell you about the use of the function.

Designed in a skeleton form, the dial is equipped with a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock and a pair of sub-dials for time display at the rest. Another detail that attracts attention when you look at the dial is "5 DAYS POWER RESERVE" writing. There is no doubt that the 5-day power reserve is one of the important features of the model, but it would have been better if it had not been spotted like the "10 YEARS BATTERY LIFE" statement on the Casio models sold for $ 50.00.

MP-09 is powered by the Caliber Ref. HUB9009.H1.RA designed and manufactured in-house exclusively for the model. With its Bi-Axis Tourbillon escapement and industrial lay-out, the movement looks more like an art piece. This is the first time Hublot uses a bi-axis tourbillion movement which are known with their perfect precision against the deviation occurred due to the gravitational force. The new model is offered on a black rubber strap attached to the case with an exclusive lug design. The strap is secured with a folding clasp that we are familiar with the rest of the Big Bang family.

Though I did not like the case design a lot, for a timepiece like Hublot MP-09, I think it’s better to leave the aesthetics-oriented interpretations such as beautiful or ugly to one side, as there will be those who like the design very much and those who do not like it at all. But what is certain is that Hublot engineers have done an excellent job both technologically and horologically.

A Note on Time Zones

Our support team works Monday through Friday on Hong Kong Time (HKT, GMT+8). Hong Kong runs 12 hours ahead of US Eastern Time while US daylight saving is in effect, and 13 hours ahead for the rest of the year, so our working hours fall overnight in the United States. That is exactly why we run email rather than a phone line: you can write at any hour that suits you, and your message is waiting for us when the day starts in Hong Kong. “24 business hours” counts only those working days, so a Friday night email normally gets a reply on Monday.

Our registered office is at Unit 2A, 17/F, Glenealy Tower, No.1 Glenealy, Central, Hong Kong. This is an administrative address only. No staff work on site, so mail or packages sent there will not reach our team, and returns sent there cannot be processed or refunded.
